This term we were thrilled to welcome Babcock International into school to speak with our Year 11 and Year 13 students about the exciting opportunities they have through their apprenticeships.
The interactive session provided students with valuable insights into the world of apprenticeships, showcasing how they can serve as an alternative pathway to traditional university routes while still offering world class training and qualifications. Babcock’s team shared firsthand experiences about working in sectors such as engineering, defence, and infrastructure, emphasising how apprenticeships allow young people to earn whilst they learn.
For our Year 11 students the talk highlighted the importance of preparing early for these opportunities, offering tips on how to stand out in the application process. Meanwhile Year 13 students gained an in-depth understanding of the advance and higher-level apprenticeships available at Babcock, which often include the opportunity to study for degrees whilst gaining hands on experience.
Students were particularly inspired by real life stories from current apprentices, we even had a SJH alumni join us, who shared their journeys and how their roles enable them to grow both personally and professionally.
We are incredibly grateful to Babcock International for taking the time to engage with our students and providing them with a clearer picture of what a future with an apprenticeship could look like.
They will be back in the New Year to discuss the interview process.
