It has been a successful term of football for the new KS3 football programme at SJH. Years 7-9 have participated in the ESFA national cup for the first time in a long while and the Year 9 boys, as well as the Year 9/10 girls have successfully navigated their first round fixtures, to earn themselves a place in round two in November.
For the boys, the highlights were an 8-0 win against Millbay Academy, with an incredible seven goals from Baker! For the girls, Sophie stole the show with five goals in an 11-1 win against Heles.
The Year 7’s are integrating into school football life well and although their first round fixture in the ESFA cup didn’t go to plan, the boys and girls have shown plenty of promise for the future fixtures that are upcoming. The Year 8’s recovered from their cup loss to draw 2-2 on Wednesday 9th October against a strong Year 8 Coombe Dean team. Liam scored both goals for SJH and Logan made two eye catching saves in goal!
Plenty more fixtures for all of Key Stage 3 to come after half term, with friendly fixtures against other schools as well as Devon and Plymouth Cup fixtures. It looks to be an exciting term of school football!
